Our Story
Hi! I’m Dana.

Thanks for coming here to learn a bit more about me.
At the root of it all - I love hiking. I love mountains, I love being outside, I love nerding out about wildflowers and trees and animals. I started Hike Revy because I wanted to make the outdoors my office, and I wanted to bring people into the mountains to show them the beauty of this area, and to hopefully get them to nerd out with me a bit too.

It’s taken a bit of time for me to get here. Growing up in Ontario, I didn’t even know that hiking guiding existed as a profession, but I always knew that I was happiest outdoors. Loving the outdoors led me to an undergraduate degree in Environment and Resources Studies at the University of Waterloo, but finding my dream job straight out of school turned out to be harder than I thought.

Eventually, I made my way to beautiful British Columbia and stumbled into the guiding world. I’ve worn a few helmets in my day—raft guide, zip line guide, even a tour guide in Thailand. I quickly found a love for sharing incredible places with people and watching them fall in love with those places too.

That’s when I knew it was time to step up my guiding game. I joined the Mountain Adventure Skills Training Program in Fernie, BC—a 9-month, hands-on certificate program at the College of the Rockies. I earned intro guiding certifications for a lot of different outdoor activities, tried my hand at lots of new things, and survived my first overnight backpacking trip. After five days of freezing cold feet, no sleep, and tuna-juice-soaked everything...I was hooked (believe it or not).

From there I went on to earn a diploma in Adventure Tourism Business Operations, also through the College of the Rockies, and then I started the process of becoming a certified Hiking Guide through the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides. You can learn a bit more about that process in my blog if you’re curious!

Now, here I am— living in a mountain paradise and combining my love for the outdoors with my passion for guiding. To me, hiking is about more than just reaching the summit. It’s about slowing down, taking it all in, and truly experiencing the beauty around us. Whether we’re tackling a challenging hike or taking a leisurely stroll and getting some amazing photos, I’m here to share the beauty of Revelstoke with you, help you connect with nature, and make sure we all do our part to protect these incredible places.

Thanks for reading – I’m excited to go hiking with you!
